Meditation
It is important for us
to take time out to slow down and be still because it:
-
helps you to see
past distracting thoughts and glimpse within
-
allows you to hear
answers to questions you have asked yourself
-
enables you to
work out the meaning of coincidences in your life
-
allows you to
access the expanded mind power associated with slower brain
rhythms
-
improves your
health
-
allows you easier
access to your intuitive intelligence. Albert Einstein was
quoted as saying that his intuition was more important than his
knowledge
-
enables you to
remember things more easily
-
enables you to be
more creative and imaginative
Slowing down and being
still also helps you to access the benefits of the alpha
brainwave.
The importance of
colour
Since the beginning of
time all cultures have used colour in one way or another. Colour can
also be used to assist us when we are meditating. Some people use it
to focus on particular parts (chakras) in the body.

Meditation tips
When preparing to
meditate, it is important to:
-
Sit with a
straight spine as this helps energy flow smoothly through you.
-
Rest your hands
with their backs on your thighs. Exposing the palms can increase
the energy taken into the body.
-
Put feet flat on
the ground. Having bare feet may help centre your energy.
-
Don’t cross legs
as this interrupts the energy flow.
-
Take off glasses.
-
Let go of all
expectations as they may block the process.
-
Understand there
is no right or wrong length of time to meditate. Do it as often
as you like for as long as you like. The key is to feel
comfortable with what you are doing.
-
If other thoughts
come in while you are meditating – don’t resist them as this
gives them power – just let them flow by and return to your
meditation.
-
When visualising
for the first time, you may feel that nothing is happening. This
is OK. Relax and go with it.
-
It is not
necessary to see a mental image. Everyone does it differently.
Some people just sense or feel the image or just sort of ‘think’
about it.
