Coaching tools

Coaching is a wonderful way to ensure you stay on track. All the best performers in the world have coaches, so why not you too? Your goals and dreams are as important as theirs.

Some things you can do to begin coaching yourself are shown below:

1. Set your goals using the CREATE formula we teach on our courses

When setting goals to CREATE results:

C

Clear and concise

R

Realistic

E

Ecological

A

As if now and affirmative

T

Toward what you want/timed

E

End step

And then write them in the following format

It is now ______________________ (Future date)

I am/I have __________________________________________________ (state the end step succinctly)

2. Determine your values

If the goal you have set does not come within your values, it will be difficult for you to achieve that goal as your unconscious will not be motivated towards it. Determining your values can also be a useful form of time management tool. You will find life is much easier when you only undertake activities that are within your values. You will also feel much more fulfilled and motivated.

Tips for achieving your goals

  • Buy a journal and record your goals.

  • Choose one thing to do each day which will bring you closer to your goals.

  • Only choose projects/goals which are in line with your values and that you strongly desire. This will provide you with the maximum motivation to achieve them.

  • Do not choose goals/projects you think you should desire.

  • Start working towards easier and shorter term goals to build your confidence.

  • Break goals into smaller steps that feel more achievable.

  • Take up opportunities that have been sent your way to help you achieve your goals.

  • Change goals that are no longer appropriate for you.

  • If you don’t accomplish a goal (which will inevitably happen), simply acknowledge this but do not criticise yourself or assume that you have failed. Decide whether it is a still a goal for you or whether you will let it go.

  • When you have accomplished a goal, even a small one, be sure to acknowledge yourself for your success. Give yourself a pat on the back and enjoy at least a moment of satisfaction.

  • Don’t take on too much at once.

  • Pay attention to coincidences. They are messages from the universe that will give you clues to whether your intentions are likely to be fulfilled and guiding you in ways to make them come true.

  • Put your goals on a timeline so you know when you are on track.
